CPD
Year Group Meeting’s
Each Year group, from Nursery to Year 6 has a specific piece of training delivered to them every half term. This is, where as possible, delivered on the same night so staff are clear when the training is to be. The training courses are decided upon by the year group teachers in conjunction with the year group leader, who is a highly skilled teacher from the town for that year group. Training is delivered at one of our local schools ensuring that it is easily accessible, at a time when a lot of LLA training is being delivered out of the area. The training is paid for by SHARES and Woodland teaching school and is included in the SHARES membership package.
The Year Group Meetings were very successful once again in 16/17. The format for them is working well for all of our schools and this regular staff CPD across the town has not only ensured that are staff are accessing regular, high quality CPD but are also able to build relationships with colleagues from other local schools. The strength of this partnership work is one of the key elements of the SHARES cluster.

Forums
Alongside the Year Group Meetings are a set of forums these provide opportunities for staff fulfilling a range of roles in each school to come together, access some training, discuss issues, share ideas and develop opportunities.
The forums are as follows; Head teacher, Learning Mentors, SENCO, Business Managers, ICT, PLT, NQT and Pupil Premium.
The forums operate on the same half termly basis as the YGM’s and are run by a combination of SHARES staff and school staff.
Staff attendance and CPD and Forums is collected and entered into a database at SHARES. This information is then provided to schools on an annual basis to show which training staff have attended.

Joint Inset Day
For several years SHARES schools have had a joint inset day (normally the Friday before the February half term) where economies of scale can be used to put on a menu of quality CPD across the town, giving the majority of school staff the opportunity to access training. The joint training also ensures there is some level of standardisation across the town. With many families being transient and moving to different schools during a child’s primary education, this joint training, as part of the wider SHARES Joint CPD, helps to make those moves easier as the teaching styles are very similar across the cluster of schools. Children and families find that this standardisation in approach makes moving schools less detrimental on the children’s education.

Statutory Training
SHARES continue to provide high quality and cost effective statutory training to our local schools. This training is held at the SHARES base so school staff can access it without having to travel.
We hold 1 day First aid, 3 day first aid, Paediatric 2 day first aid, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Fire Warden training. The First aid courses are delivered several times per year while the other training courses are run on an annual basis.
We also deliver training for site supervisors when the need arises and the numbers to do this are viable.
