Pupil Parliament

SHARES Pupil Parliament 2025/2026 Itinerary

The SHARES Pupil Parliament brings together three elected pupil representatives from each SHARES cluster school. These pupils meet throughout the year to develop leadership skills, give voice to their peers, and take part in projects that make a real difference in their community.

Objectives of the Pupil Parliament

  • Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Promote an understanding of democracy and positive change

  • Uphold and celebrate British values

  • Our Parliament meets once every term, at West Lancs College or The Zone. Over the years, members have contributed to major local initiatives such as Beacon Country Park Play Area, Skelmersdale Foodbank, Birchwood Centre, Big Tidy Up, and creating a time capsule. In 2024/25, the Parliament engaged in exciting projects, including:

  • Glass Ball Art Project – featuring a fully funded trip for Pupil Parliament members to visit the Preston Preservation Studios, where they learnt about heritage conservation and took part in creating community art pieces.
  • Leisure Centre Development – ensuring that children’s voices were heard in shaping the future of local facilities, including playing a key role in the campaign to prevent the closure of the town’s swimming baths.
