SHARES Swimming
In 2015, SHARES Lancashire developed a swimming service that would better meet the needs of schools and their children to support the development of the lifesaving skill that is swimming.
Our experienced and qualified Swimming Instructors deliver a range of high quality National Curriculum lessons, SHARES Lancashire delivers lessons to children from 5-11 years old. Our swim service operates 36 weeks of the year and has been a huge success in ensuring that children meet the standard for National Curriculum swimming across our schools.
As an accredited Swim England provider we not only deliver high quality in pool lessons, we also deliver water safety training. These take place in designated water safety weeks and children a engaged in ‘dry side’ lessons where our coaches attend our schools and talk to children about how they conduct themselves around water.

Able Gifted and Talented

Alongside our national curriculum lessons we deliver an ‘able, gifted and talented’ programme to children from our schools, to support them in making the leap from national curriculum swimming to potential club swimmers. Children are targeted by our coaches in partnership with the school and offered a chance to train with our coaches at an extracurricular club. The AG+T club has been a huge success and been the springboard for children to join elite local swim clubs such as Wigan Wasps and Ormskirk Otters.
We believe that giving children routes to excel in sports that they enjoy and show aptitude for is key to keeping them engaged with sport and potentially realising their goals.

Swim Gala
Our swim service deliver an annual gala for our schools, parents come to watch and this is a huge fixture in our calendar of sporting events. Held at Wigan Life Centre, an appropriate venue for such an event, with its seated viewing gallery and professional feel, children race against each other in individual and team events.
It is our mini Olympic event and children, parents and staff come together in what is a wonderful and unique experience for all.
